Daisy Chains

Daisy chains are a proven trolling rig method for tuna and game fish due to their ability to mimic a school of baitfish. The multiple components of a tuna daisy chain create more commotion in the water, attracting fish from greater distances and depths than single lures. 

Daisy chains are also highly customisable with various elements (skirts, squids, lures) and colours, allowing anglers to adapt to different fishing conditions and target species.

While fishing daisy chains may not be as commonly used inshore as they are offshore, they can be effective for inshore anglers when used appropriately. The key is to adapt the rig to suit the specific conditions and target species of your inshore fishing environment.

For example, you scale down the size and adjust the components to match local baitfish. In that case, it can be effective for inshore predatory fish like kingfish.

Inshore fishing may be most effective during baitfish migrations or when predatory fish feed in these areas. Consider using your fishing daisy chain in coastal waters, inlets, and larger bays with enough space to troll effectively.

For tuna and other pelagics, bright fluorescent colours like pink, green, and orange work well, especially in clear water. In murky water, dark colours like violet and black provide better silhouettes and profiles.

The key is to create an enticing "buffet" effect with your daisy chain while making the hooked lure stand out as the prime target. Try experimenting with different configurations, colours, and retrieval speeds to determine the best daisy chain for tuna in your local area.
